Yay for my first quilt finish in 2013!

Alphabet Soup
I love quick projects! This baby solids quilt only took a few hours to make since a lot of the pieces were already cut; leftovers from my lightweight solids quilt. This time I decided to alternate rows of squares and rectangles and then quilted some of it on the diagonal to break up the straight rows. I had a hard time deciding where to stop the diagonals, but ultimately decided that I liked it with just the four corners done.
For the backing, I used a warm and soft flannel that's covered with the letters of the alphabet.
Amazingly enough, I had it in my stash and it coordinated perfectly. Granted, the solids and the flannel both came from Connecting Threads, but that doesn't mean they would necessarily go together. To add some contrast, I used an orange fabric from my stash for the binding.

Oh I love your quilt. The name is adorable. Congratulations on your first complete for the year. You inspire. I am trying really hard to be able to say that! I loved visiting your WIP solid quilt post and decided to visit a little longer. I have signed up to follow you in my little blue slippers. You'll see them in the followers group. Thanks for sharing your work and inspiring me. Have a wonderful weekend.
