Yay for my first quilt finish in 2013!
Feb 1, 2013
I love quick projects! This baby solids quilt only took a few hours to make since a lot of the pieces were already cut; leftovers from my lightweight solids quilt. This time I decided to alternate rows of squares and rectangles and then quilted some of it on the diagonal to break up the straight rows. I had a hard time deciding where to stop the diagonals, but ultimately decided that I liked it with just the four corners done.
For the backing, I used a warm and soft flannel that's covered with the letters of the alphabet. Amazingly enough, I had it in my stash and it coordinated perfectly. Granted, the solids and the flannel both came from Connecting Threads, but that doesn't mean they would necessarily go together. To add some contrast, I used an orange fabric from my stash for the binding.
